my stomach is growling even though i ate like two hours ago. it’s eugene, he’s not happy with the fact that i’m *trying* to eat a little healthier. since i now weigh the most i’ve ever weighed, and it’s just gross.
i didn’t go to school today because we’re doing the same thing we’ve been doing for the past two weeks and i don’t think it’s worth the drive. i’ll go tomorrow, though, and try to finish up my second assignment for my CAD class. most people have already started the third assignment, but somewhere along the way people figured out that they can ask me questions about the software and i’ll actually help them. which means that i spend 75% of my time helping people and have very little time to do my own stuff. tomorrow night that all changes, though, because i’m putting on my headphones and concentrating on my own work. i ordered the student version of the software, too, so i can install it on my laptop and do my work at home.
the next four five books on my list to read: grave peril by jim butcher, blood engines by t.a. pratt, nightwalker by jocelynn drake, the devil inside by jenna black, and white witch, black curse by kim harrison.
we have a concert in two weeks and my family is coming down to attend. dad, mom, auntie, cousin (well, he’s already staying at my house), cousin’s gf, and our friend (also already staying at the house). it’s gonna be a full house plus my mom and aunt are staying at another relative’s house and geez, the coordination involved is mind boggling. i have an extremely busy next few weeks, but hopefully there will be some really cool stuff coming down the pipeline very soon!

i’m not, really. i spent the whole day by myself, cleaning, doing laundry, watching NCAA basketball, playing the sims2, listening to pandora, and looking at real estate listings. and nobody bothered me all day. it was so nice.
but now that it’s 1:45 am, i’m getting lonely. i don’t like to sleep by myself. waiting for TGF to come home, though she’s spending the evening with her family, so i should leave her alone. guess i’ll stay up until she lets me know that she’s either a) on her way home; or b) crashing on the couch at her aunt’s house.
bands/artists i’ve got to find out more about (thanks, pandora!): psapp, ulrich schnauss, the strokes, keri noble. bands/artists i already knew i liked, but it was good to hear them again: portishead, postal service, feist, kate havnevik, muse, james taylor, enigma, sade, al green, sister sledge.
oh, and i think i set my twitter to only update once a week on the blog. cuz it was looking ridiculous.

rather, I hate that I am antisocial. I don’t like crowds, noise or meeting new people. i’m totally out of my element if I have to make small talk with someone i’ve not met before.
consequently, i’m sitting in the corner of a korean restaurant while the girlfriend chats with the person sitting next to her at the long-ass table over yonder. we’re here to celebrate our friends’ 15th anniversary. cool.
there are waaaay too many people here. and the screaming children aren’t helping. if we ever have kids, they’re going to be well behaved and mute. or we’ll tie them to their chairs.
dang. I washed my hair today and now it smells like korean barbecue. guess i’ve gotta wash it again before bed. can’t have my pillow smelling like burnt bulgogi. i’ll have food dreams if I do.

ok, so i have this ex boyfriend from high school. a few years ago, i sent him an email after finding him on friendster or something like that. just saying hi, how are you, stuff like that. he wrote back saying he was married, just had a daughter. wanted to know how i was, the usual stuff. i wrote back that i was living in los angeles with my girlfriend and that we’d been together for a few years.
never heard back from him.
until today, when i had a message in my facebook inbox, saying, “hey, was just looking around, saw your profile, thought i’d see how you were, blah blah blah.”
now why did he not reply to my email years ago? did he not get it? did i royally offend his sensibilities by telling him about my girlfriend? as i recall, he was very, very religious, to the point that we almost broke up because his grandma was concerned that i wasn’t a christian. anyway, i have all these questions but they’re mostly overshadowed by the “what the fuck, dude?”
do i care enough to write back? we have quite a few mutual friends on facebook, will it look odd if i don’t reply? will i look like the bad guy? eh. i’ll wait a while before i reply. mull it over while i watch basketball. did i mention that we’re going to the final four in san antonio? and that i really love The Girlfriend? she’s the best!

because i seem to be posting an awful lot. i used to do this when i didn’t have anything better to do and, well, i had something to say. i’ve had precious little of either these past few months so i’ve not posted as much, oh well.
today i played guitar hero for a couple of hours. i never learned how to hold the neck of a guitar properly (is that even what it’s called?) and therefore my plastic “gibson” is causing all sorts of havoc with my stupid thumbs. i’ve already got tendinitis in my right thumb and now, as a result of my guitar hero addiction, my left thumb is much the same. luckily the thumb brace i have is reversible. but the dirty part of it (the part that goes over my palm) ends up on the top of my hand when it’s on the left thumb. it’s a little gross.
and don’t tell anyone, but the NCAA men’s games have been much more exciting to watch than the women’s. i’m not sure where the apostrophe goes in that. in the first round, the higher ranked teams have been blowing out the lower ranks, to the point where i’ve actually turned off the tv (I KNOW! SHOCKING!) because it’s rather boring. but the second round should be better. GO STANFORD!!!!
oh, and here’s something i bet you didn’t know about The Girlfriend. she doesn’t know the difference between an inside voice and an outside voice. to be fair, i made this observation while she was asleep (she talks in her sleep) and again while we were watching ESPN, but all the same, she makes no distinction. i blame it on her being taiwanese (you should hear it when she’s talking to her mom on the phone!) and partially deaf. and do you know why she was using her outside voice while watching ESPN? she was yelling at one of the sportscasters, “get a hairbrush! jeez, who let you go on tv like that? if i was on tv, i’d want someone to tell me my hair looked like crap!” and that’s 100% true.

headcolds are the best! can’t breathe, face hurts, ears are plugged. what a life!
haven’t been to school in two days and feel totally guilty. have a concert on saturday night and i sound as if my nose has turned into a bugle. weird visual.
my parents are coming down for the concert so i have to clean the house. can’t breathe, yet still manage to inhale enough dust to start sneezing. my, doesn’t that just feel terrific? our friends, K & D are also coming to the concert, i don’t remember if K’s ever seen our apartment, so i’ve got to find somewhere to hide all the girlfriend’s stuff. she’s going to be mad when she gets home tonight…

went to borders today to use a couple of gift cards that we got for christmas. ended up buying 6 books and only spending $23. would like to start reading them, but i think they might be scary so i’m going to wait until it’s light outside to begin.
the girlfriend left for a short trip back east to the very, very cold. hope she enjoys her time off, she certainly needs it. i spent most of the day with her, hanging out and having fun–my version of fun consists of cleaning, rearranging and spending money. her version of fun is something else, but i think she had fun, too.
no school today or tomorrow. my instructor is at a convention. yay for not having to get up at 5:30 in the morning!
i have to memorize my music. we have a “preview” concert sunday. we can’t suck. i’m trying but can’t seem to get motivated to learn this repertoire. sigh.
off to bed for me.

i go back to school on monday–which is why i didn’t make the trip with The Girlfriend this weekend–i’ve got lots of absolutely nothing to do so that i can mentally prepare for the upcoming semester. see, i know i’m going to be busy every day from monday through june, so i’m taking my last opportunity to sit around, watch basketball, download music, and play DDR to my heart’s content.
for anyone who is interested, my choir is gearing up for a concert the 8th of March. it’s a departure for us, i think, as most of the music is spiritual in nature. it’s fun for me because i’m getting back to music i’ve not sung in years plus learning new stuff–we have a new commission that features overtone singing and some interesting looking musical instruments called “whirlies.” growing up i’d always been in chamber choirs and groups that did a fair amount of sacred music, so being able to sing some of that again makes me smile.

i seem to have contracted some vile form of stomach virus. on top of the cold i’ve had since last thursday. i’ve been passing everything through my system rather quickly (in that holy hell, where’s the bathroom, holiday a-la margaret cho kind of quickly) so i’ve not been far from my bathroom since saturday. makes it difficult to accomplish certain tasks. like drive to school. missed yesterday. was kind of nice to sleep in, though. got very little sleep last night as the girlfriend and i had to watch heroes and then discuss til after midnight.
hopefully today will be a little better, but i’m still not going to eat anything.
